A(i)rtifacts - Issue No. 4
Happy Friday,
Waiting for Midjourney’s inpainting. Is it here yet?
Nope.
So while we wait, let’s check out what has happened this week.
Midjourney
Aug 16 - Weekly Office Hours
v5.3 or v5.2 + inpainting?
- looking to release at least inpainting within Discord this week - so far, it’s a waiting game
- if they are only able to release inpainting, they may not call it v5.3, but rather v5.2 with inpainting
- if they ship inpainting and the aesthetic upgrade = v5.3
- is it here yet? 😊
v6
- behind schedule
- they could release something more conservative now, but maybe not enough to call it v6, and would rather release a big update, aka v6
- no estimated release date at this point (maybe a few more weeks)
Website
- working hard on getting the core experience great
- no release date at this point
Other
- working on infrastructure and databases to keep everything running smoothly

Midjourney Talk
There is ongoing talk (debate) about whether cameras/lenses make a difference in Midjourney prompts. Some people say yes, absolutely, and some say no.
This topic comes up quite frequently during office hours. According to David, founder of Midjourney - some cameras and camera effects can have an effect. But in general, adding a certain lens or more advanced camera setting doesn’t work. However, things like long exposure does influence the generated images.
