Aug 21 - Inpainting Drops

Lots of testing ensues. You can find so many amazing examples of Vary (region) on X. Here’s my first test - simply changing minor things like lip color, sunglasses, and clothing. Worked great!

TL;DR: No release date for v5.3 or v6

Midjourney Inpainting creates better, sharper, more detailed, and more realistic images than v5.2! 

What???

Yes.

It’s true - confirmed by David (founder of Midjourney) during office hours. The system the inpainting uses is different from the one in the current v5.2 model! He did not call it v5.3, but wow - this is where we are heading!

I can't wait to see what v6 will be like.

Here’s my post about it with examples. Basically, you will need to select the whole canvas in the Vary (region) selection screen. If you try this, feel free to comment on my post with your results. It works better for some images than others.

Some of us, yours truly included, thought we discovered a new “thing” in Midjourney (but it turns out it’s not new at all - just new for me and a few others 😀 ). Drum roll…

Remaster your old images

You can grab your old image, e.g., v5, and remaster it 😮
I wrote a tutorial about how to do this here (on X).

In all fairness, it does say ‘NEW’ next to ‘Remaster’ 😂
